At the southwest end of a railroad bridge, in the concrete footing, sits a U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey Disk.

To get to the disk, it is best to travel from the intersection of Highland Avenue and Gould Street, travel north on Gould Street to a railroad crossing. Travel along the railroad bed approximately 0.25 mile to a railroad bridge over Mass. State Route 128/I-95. The mark is on the left in front of the bridge. The mark is the higher of two survey marks at this location, and is set approximately 1 foot above the level of the tracks. It is about 2 feet from the end of the bridge.

The disk face has the following inscriptions:
Near the Edge: "U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey"
Next Level: "And State Survey"
Inside: "Station No. M 128 AU"
Inside: "Elev 121.966"

The mark is in good shape, though the characters hand imprinted are hard to read.

Warning: The rails appear to be unused for at least a few months. However, I do not know that they are abandoned. Therefore, be cautious when visiting this mark. It may be possible to also approach from the CareerBuilder.com parking lot, though you may have to scale a fence.

These marks are threatened. There is a highway project to widen Route 128 and redesign the interchange with Highland Avenue. This project possibly would affect this bridge. Construction could begin anytime but will probably start in a year or two.
