Letcher is a town in Sanborn County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 177 at the 2000 census.
The Letcher Community Development Foundation is working to ensure that future development of this community will embrace the values they find important. These values include the nurturing of families, respect for one another, commitment to making Letcher a better place to live, providing more opportunities for all citizens, making our town more welcoming and appealing, providing needed services for citizens, providing housing for families, developing additional recreational options, and building stronger relationships with other communities.
The Letcher Community Club annually applies for a grant from the Paint South Dakota program sponsored by the South Dakota Housing Development Authority to paint a house in Letcher. A Saturday in June is selected as a paint day, and volunteers come together to get the job done.
