The interpretive sign reads:

Isaac Walton Bell
Donated by: John & Dorothy Tollensdorf

The bell was made at the Buckeye Bell Foundry, part of the E.W. Van Dugen Co. of Cincinatti, Ohio, which was one of the largest bell producers in the United States during the earlier part of the 19th and early 20th century.

The alloy mixture of the bell is mostly bronze but also has silver, nickel, and tin in it. It weighs 1,600 pounds.

Isaac Walton School was built in 1895; it served as Fairbury High School and later on, Isaac Walton Grade School. When the building was sold in 1965, the bell was sold separately. The space on whice the school stood is now a parking lot at Fourth and Maple Street.

The iron work in front of the bell and the Veteran's Memorial is from the early entrance ways to stores on Locust Street.
