Though not nearly as lofty as some locations, the welcome sign to the Mansfield Municipal Airport has a stated elevation, none-the-less. The claim is that it is 124 feet high. My GPSr waypoint elevation is 142 ft, which, given the accuracy of the device, is roughly in agreement with the sign.
Mansfield Municipal Airport is a small, two runway airport that serves Mansfield, MA, and the surrounding area. It is about 30 miles southwest of Boston, MA, and about 20 miles northeast of Providence, RI. The airport entrance is on Fruit Street, which is off Main Street in Mansfield. The sign is hung over the entrance to the office building, on the runway side of the building. From the parking lot, you can either walk through the building or around it from the right side.
