Washington College-1A 30 - Tennessee Historical Markers on Waymarking.com

First established as Maztin Academy by the Rev. Samuel Doak in 1780. It was later called Dr. Doak's Log College and in 1795 received its present name on motion by John Sevier. Dr. Doak died in 1829, at the age of 80 and is buried on this campus.
