You can find this cemetery on 102nd Avenue, West of 113th Street in Seminole. There is a small paved parking spot in front of the gates but you can also park next to the fence in the grass. The gates are locked so you cannot walk around inside.
At the entrance by the gate, there is a history of this cemetery as well as Pinellas County. This book is chained so you have to read it there.
According to this book....
Lone Pilgrim Cemetery was established in 1896, owned and maintained Lone Pilgrim Baptist Church in Largo, FL. This index is provided by the Pinellas Genealogy Society. The number buried is 83.
(There is a list of everyone who is buried here.)
A Brief History...
The land for the Lone Pilgrim Cemetery was donated and established in 1887 by the McMullen family. This family, probably more famous for the major road now partially named after them (McMullen-Booth Rd) was a part of 22 original families that traveled to the Pinellas County area in the 1880's. The majority of these families were from North Florida, however, some even came from as far north as North Carolina. Regardless of their original dwellings, all of these families came to escape the hardships.
The above information was taken from the book that is located at the cemetery. There are more pages with even more history located in this book. This book is the result of a Boy Scout project by Jeremy Heath. BSA Troop 371. June 7, 2008.
