The 166,000-square-foot central library provides patrons the use of more than 180 computers and access to more than 600,000 items, including books, DVDs, CDs, computer software, and more. Special features include a glass sculpture by internationally renowned artist Dale Chihuly, as well as many other works by famous artists, a fireplace, an original illustration gallery and a café. The Youth Services Department has a unique Enchanted Forest area displaying well known children's book characters and offering a lovely setting for reading or game playing. In addition to the Enchanted Forest, the saltwater aquarium is a highlight for children and adults.
The Schaumburg Township District Library was recently named a five-star winner by the Library Journal's "Public Library Service", which is a rating system that surveyed more than 7,100 libraries across the county.
