Cave Junction is the only incorporated town in the Illinois Valley where ghost towns and old mines dot the landscape, and a ranch once owned by John Wayne. It is now best known as the gateway to the fabulous Oregon Caves National Monument. It is a scenic ride along the Redwood Highway, Route 199, from Grants Pass, Oregon, through this valley to the northern California Coast, just south of Brookings, Oregon.
