River Legacy Parks is the product of a public/private partnership between River Legacy Foundation and the city of Arlington. Founded in 1988, the mission of the partnership is to preserve and enhance land along the Trinity River and its tributaries as a recreational, educational, and natural resource.
The Parks consist of 1,300 acres on the Trinity River in the north Arlington. The Parks currently offer more than eight miles of paved trails winding through thick forest and expansive greenbelts. Wildlife is abundant. There are picnic areas, Legacy Pavilion, paved hike/bike trails, a meditation area, river overlooks, multipurpose areas, water fountains, restrooms, a playground, and a canoe launch.
