Lake Superior is the largest, deepest, coldest, and most pristine of all the Great Lakes.
Backcountry Camping
Forty-two miles of the North Country National Scenic Trail are within Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Located along the Lake Superior shoreline, hikers find a spectacular place for backcountry camping, hiking, and relaxation. Permits are required for overnight camping.

Winter at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore brings solitude and beauty and an average of 140 inches of snow. This is your winter wonderland for cross-country skiing, winter camping, ice climbing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and snowshoeing.
