The Glazier Stove Company manufacturing the "Brightest and Best" (B&B) oil and gas stoves was founded in 1890. At the turn of the century, it was Chelsea largest employer and one of the largest manufacturers in Michigan.
The sign is on the west wall of The Stove Building in the former Glazier Stove Comapany complex. The complex is being renovated into a mixed-use development of retail, office, and warehousing. Unfortunately, the Stove Building is too deteriorated to save it. The developers hope to save the west wall and have it as a free-standing historical exhibit of the former glory of The Glazier Stove Company.
The site is currently under construction, but the sign is accessible. Go to the Clocktower and go east down the driveway between the Clocktower Building and the Welfare Building.
