PB0178 - NGS YX22, Oregon - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This benchmark bolt is located along the old Bend-Burns Road about 11 miles west of Millican. The cap is set in an embedded boulder about 25 feet west of road centerline. The bolt was set by PG&E on unknown date and was described by the National Geodetic Survey in 1943. The NGS data sheet says the Marker Type is a disk but all other marks along this route, with a “X” in the designation and placed by PG&E are bolts. Appears the data sheet is incorrect, not the first error I’ve seen in the data sheets.

ABOUT 11.0 MILES WEST ALONG THE OLD BEND-BURNS ROAD FROM MILLICAN, DESCHUTES COUNTY, SET AT THE RUINS OF THE STOOKEY RANCH HOUSE, SET IN THE TOP OF AN EMBEDDED BOULDER, IN THE WEST FENCE LINE, 30.0 FEET SOUTH OF THE EXTENDED CENTER LINE OF THE DRIVE WAY TO HOUSE, 26.0 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD, PROJECTING ABOUT 3-INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND, 2.0 FEET EAST OF A WHITE REFERENCE POST.
