From Jack Forbes website ‘Chasing the Depots’ (
visit link) the original depot was at-grade adjacent to the Wabash main line and Delmar Boulevard. The main line was grade-separated from Delmar Boulevard, requiring a new station to be constructed. This work was completed by 1928. By 1947, escalators were added to the stairs down to the platforms from the station; see the attached ad from Duke University Libraries Digital Collections Ad*Access image database -http://library.duke.edu/digitalcollections/adaccess.T3368/
. Eventually, the railroad line was abandoned and turned over to Metrolink for use as a light rail system; a view of the station in 1981 prior to that time is available from Jack Forbes website (

Metrolink constructed new platforms and shelters where the old Delmar platforms once existed, and the light rail was placed into service in July 1993. Today the Delmar Station is owned by Joe Edwards, a developer active in the Delmar Loop – see this entry in Wikipedia - (
