The Peoples National Bank was located at the southeast corner of Clifton Avenue and Second Street and opened in 1912.

At that time, downtown Lakewood's roads had not yet been paved. The site had been that of the "Bungalow shops". Portions of the shops exist on both Clifton Ave. and Second St. The bank building also stands today albeit, unoccupied. Notice the burgler alarm at the center-top of the building.
The bank building looks much the same today as in did in the prior photo. Noticible changes to it's appearance include the addition of the long, illuminated signs at the top which once carried the name of National Westminster Bank and most recently, Fleet Bank; the absence of the bronze "People's National Bank" signs at the lower corner of the building; modern aluminum framed doors at the entrance and most noticible, the annex which was completed around 1920. This annex caused the removal of another section of the "Bungalow Shops". The burgler alarm however, is still there.
