The City of Fort Worth sirens may be activated for any kind of emergency - not just severe weather. Though some residents still think of them as tornado sirens, that's not the case. While they are used during severe weather, they may be used for other emergencies such as: hazardous materials, terrorism, or national emergencies. The sirens are an OUTDOOR warning system and may not be heard indoors or in a noisy area.

Testing: The system is tested the every Wednesday of each month at 1:00 pm, weather permitting. If you hear the sirens at any other time you should go inside, tune into your local radio or television station for additional information and instructions.
