Sky Meadows State Park, a jewel of the Virginia park system. The park has more than 12 miles of hiking trails ranging in difficulty from moderate to hard. Access to the Appalachian Trail.

My wife and I spent a glorious cold and sunny day (01/31/2009) hiking a total of 7 miles within Sky Meadows including 2 miles on the AT. There are many combinations of shorted hikes that lead to panoramic vistas of the valley below. The parking is at about 1100 feet elevation. The AT, on top of the ridge line is at about 2200 feet.
