Long Description:
East Hill Cemetery was established in 1869 and is one of the oldest
cemetery's in Salem. It is situated on top of "East Hill" on East
Main Street, which affords visitors to a beautiful view of downtown
Salem and the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains. Many of Salem's
most prominent citizens are buried here including Revolutionary War
Patroit General Andrew Lewis and a number of Civil War Veterans.
East Hill has approx 2,500 graves and is still open for burials.
