The Lighthouse at Turtle Rock, completed in 1887, was built to provide a warning to the steamboats, canal barges, and others that used the Schuylkill River, of their close proximity to the dam at Fairmount. It is the only lighthouse in the City of Philadelphia. In 1902-03, it was incorporated into the Sedgeley Boathouse and can be found along Boathouse Row!

Generally inactive, but a light is displayed on special occasions. Cylindrical brick tower with hexagonal lantern and gallery, mounted atop a 1-story wing of a 2-story brick clubhouse. Tower is unpainted red brick, lantern and gallery painted white.
