Part of the History Village's displays is a water tower. Not very tall, and not a lot of water capacity, but it was sufficient for it time.

This wooden tower stood on a farm in the small agricultural community of Sutherland, now known as Palm Harbor. As early farmers expanded their fields, they needed a reliable source of water for crop irrigation. If farmers did not live near rivers, streams or ponds they dug wells. Windmills pumped the water into above ground holding tanks. Farmers took advantage of gravity to distribute the water easily where they needed it--the home, garden or for animals.
Boyd Ayedlott placed this water tower on his property in Sutherland and later M.E. Sumner's family acquired the tower. In 1949 this structure moved to the Golfigan property in Dunedin. By the time the Golfigan family acquired the tower, the cost to dismantle, move and reassemble the water tower was &96!
