USCGS Point Pinos Lighthouse 1855 - Pacific Grove, California - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

Point Pinos is the oldest continually operating lighthouse on the west coast, having been lit in 1855. It has probably assisted in many surveys since then, being visible for miles along the coast.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1969 (RMS)
THE STATION WAS RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION AND IS THE POINT
PINOS LIGHTHOUSE AT POINT PINOS, AT THE NORTH END OF THE MONTEREY
PENINSULA, ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF MONTEREY BAY. THE LIGHTHOUSE
WAS COMPLETED IN 1855 AND IS A WHITE, GRANITE-BLOCK BUILDING
ABOVE WHICH IS A SHORT, CYLINDRICAL TOWER WITH A GLASS-ENCLOSED
LIGHT GALLERY ON TOP."
