PB0252 - USGS P-40, Oregon - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This elevation mark is located along an abandoned segment of the Cascade Lakes Highway, about 8.5 miles southwest of Bend. The cap is set in rock outcrop, about 80 feet southeast of the old highway centerline. The cap was set by the U.S. Geological Survey in 1929 and was marked P-40.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1963. 8.4 MILES SOUTHWEST ALONG CENTURY DRIVE FROM THE POST OFFICE AT BEND NEAR THE CENTER AND ON THE INSIDE OF A CURVE, 0.1 MILE NORTHEAST OF THE DIRT ROAD WEST TO TUMALO LAKE, 80 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTER OF CENTURY DRIVE, 1 FOOT NORTH OF A METAL WITNESS POST AND ABOUT 10 FEET ABOVE THE LEVEL OF THE HIGHWAY IN A 4 BY 4 FOOT BEDROCK THAT PROJECTS 1 FOOT.
