This caboose is the former Southern Pacific #1010, a steel type C-40-1 caboose.

Southern Pacific had 50 of the Class C-40-1's made in 1937 and numbered them #1000 through #1049. Source

This number series of caboose was the first to use the steel caboose design used by SP for decades. Making this the 10th caboose of this type in existence. Source
