The Community College of Aurora is part of the larger system of community colleges of Colorado, which includes Pikes Peak Community College, Arapahoe Community College, Front Range Community College, among others. While each college has its own administration and are intended to serve specific communities, they are largely operated at the state level. The majority classes are guaranteed to transfer among each community college, as well as to state funded four year institutions.
The Community College of Aurora has over 40 degree and certificate programs available. The college, and the Lowry campus specifically, is also home to the Colorado Film School. The Colorado Film School offers various two-year degrees and certificates, and previously partnered with the University of Denver Health Sciences Center to offer four year degrees. As of this posting, the Colorado Film School is in talks with Regis University (a private university) to have guaranteed transfer programs so that the school may once again offer four year degrees.
The Community College of Aurora is accredited by the Commission of Institutions of Higher Education of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
