Casa Gallardo started in 1975 by Ramon Gallardo at the Wesport location. In 1979 a deal with General Mills started building it to one of the top 3 Mexican chains in the U.S. Ramon Gallardo had a say so in the operation and was the spokesperson. In 1995 General Mills decided to get out of the restaurant business and sold off Casa Gallardo to Old Mexico Restaurants. It is now operated by El Torito (part of Prandium, Inc which also owns Chi-Chi's). These are the only remaining locations anywhere. Ramon Gallardo currently runs Ozzie's Restaurant and Sports Bar at Westport.
