Located on Rt. 109 in the Wawbeek Shores section of Tuftonboro, New Hampshire, this tower sits on Abenaki Hill and overlooks the east shore of Lake Winnipesaukee. The parking lot is just off the highway, and the tower is a short stroll from there. Climbing a narrow set of stairs to the observation deck gains you a stunning view of the area. The tower was constructed in 1929, rebuilt in 1979, and along with the public access role, has been used for fire detection, and for aircraft spotting during WWII. As a photographer, this location strikes me as the ultimate for sunset photos....
