Just off I-26, Exit 40, towards Erwin, TN.

Sign text:
In the valley 500 yards north were held many kinds of frontier diversions, including racing on a half-mile semi-circular track. Here, in 1788, Andrew Jackson, then 21 years old, rode his horse in a match race against a horse belonging to Col. Robert Love, ridden by a professional jockey. Jackson lost.

Nothing remains of the track, but there is another monument plaque closer to downtown Erwin. Andrew Jackson rode as his jockey was sick with a fever. Jackson later became a US president.
