The German-American Social Club of Cape Coral was founded as a non-political organization in July 1964 with a charter membership of 34. Willy Gruetzenbach, one of the prime movers in its formation, was elected to serve as president. The purpose of the Club, then and now, is to promote good fellowship with a variety of social activities, to perpetuate traditional German festivals such as Oktoberfest, Karneval, Costume Balls, Folk Dances, etc., and to stimulate interest in the German language and customs.
Our Bavarian Gartenfests and Oktoberfests have entertained thousands of people in our beautifully decorated picnic area. Our Club dances and entertainment have drawn capacity crowds. Kitchen improvements have resulted in an expanded menu and meals that attract increasing numbers of diners. This progress, that has continued through effective, capable leadership and the volunteer efforts of our members, insures the Club’s future as the outstanding social, ethnic organization in Southwest Florida. Our members can be proud to be affiliated with this most distinctive and multifaceted social club.
