This is just inside the boundary of Santa Teresa County Park in the foothills of south San Jose. Water to fill this tank had to be pumped up from the city in the valley hundreds of feet below; there is no natural water source at this elevation. I believe it is reserved for wildland fire fighting, but I can't confirm that. It's possible that it is filled in the winter (wet season) as a summer water supply for residents in the valley.
