Windward Beach Park is a local park and recreation area off of Princeton Avenue. Visitors can bathe on the beaches of the Metedeconck River, catch a concert at the bandstand, watch their children play on any of the playgrounds, or even come for the Thursday Night Summer Concert Series at SummerFest food and fun Festival.

At the end of "Challenger Way" (named in honor of the Challenger Space Shuttle tragedy) is a small oval turnaround, which is a small memorial circle. There is a memorial to the Challenger Space Shuttle disaster, the Columbia Space Shuttle disaster, and this Angel in Anguish memorial to locals killed in the September 11 terrorist attack. The angel is crying over a depiction of the New York City skyline before the tower collapse.

Local residents and business donated the monies to have the sculpture created and it was dedicated on the one year anniversary of the tragedy.
