This artificial cave is a mine drainage adit. It is located approximately 650 feet east of the carpark at Tokenbury Corner near Pensilva.

This mine adit was used to drain one of the nearby mines. Water would have been pumped from much deeper levels in the mine and discharged in the adit. The water would then drain by gravity out of the mine. This adit has collapsed about thirty feet from the entrance. The adit heads north west which is the general direction of the East Cornwall mine but I can find no evidence of this in the many books I have checked.
