From the Georgetown Hospital website:
Georgetown Hospital is a bright, modern community hospital built on 17 acres of land. Offering a wide range of primary care services, its major clinical areas include obstetrics, general medicine, surgery and complex continuing care. The emergency department, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, provides service to more than 26,000 patients annually.
The Hospital began in 1953, and was constructed in 1960 after receiving the approvals and land necessary.
The Georgetown Hospital is part of the Halton Healthcare Services network now and shares resources with other Halton Region health care facilities. It was partnered with the William Ostler Health Centre (Brampton, Etobicoke) but was reassigned after Georgetown and area residents protested the closure of the Obstetrics wing in 2005. The Hospital was transferred to Halton Healthcare after the Town Council sent several busloads of people to Queen's Park.
