St. Paul's has been serving Sparks, Nevada since 1905. when the Southern Pacific Railroad moved its shops from Wadsworth to Sparks. The Wadsworth church had been known as St. James’ Church, and its vicar was The Reverend Thomas L. Bellam. When the railroad work was transferred, so was the work force. The Rev. Bellam packed his bags too and in the Engineers’ Hall on Sixth Street, Sparks, St. Paul’s mission church was born.

In 1906, the members of the mission began construction of a $2,500 church: a one-story frame with a bell and a belfry at 410 Pyramid Way.

The construction of the current church building on two and a half acres of land near Twelfth St. and Oddie Boulevard began in 1963. This site was chosen because, according to the Master Plan of the City of Sparks, it would have been immediately adjacent to the Civic Center. However, the Master Plan was not followed. The first services in the new all-purpose building were conducted on May 3, 1964
