The person:
"Bob" Isaac (January 27, 1928 – May 2, 2008) was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He attended the Military Academy at West Point, and went to law school at University of Southern California before returning to Colorado Springs to practice law. He was a well-liked mayor of Colorado Springs from 1979-1997, which office he held for five four-year terms, during a period of explosive city growth. He resigned his position 2 years before the end of his term. He was married 3 times which produced 5 children. Isaac died on May 2, 2008 from complications from pneumonia.
The building:
The terminal was renamed after him 8 years after it's construction, while he was still a city resident. The new terminal, a 280,000-square-foot (26,000 m2), 17-gate facility cost $140 million dollars to build. It was opened on October 22, 1994.
Note: He also has a downtown municipal building (The Robert M. Isaac Municipal Court Building) named after him.
