The William L. Huse mansion at 9 Westmoreland Place was built in 1891. The Richardsonian Romanesque style house as designed by the architectural firm of Eames and Young for William L. Huse. Mr. Huse was a successful businessman. His interests including river steamers and an ice business (an important and lucrative business of that era). He later became involved in railroads.
