Chimney was probablly a sugar refinery smoke stack in years past. This area of the US has long been planted with either Sugar Cane, Cotton or Corn (the 3 C's). Most likely Sugar cane (just a bit too far south for large cotton plantations, corn was not as profitable as sugar)Also sugar refinerys require a chimney, for the burning of fuel is required in the
process of refineing sugar. There was a refinery on almost every large plantation. Now a days, there is only a limited number of refinerys working. This looks like a Sugar refinery from years past.
