The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Library is the final resting place of the fortieth President of the United States. Open to the public, this peaceful location offers insight into the man who rose to become one of the most popular presidents in recent history.
Description: From sports broadcaster to actor, from governor to President, Ronald Reagan's life and career epitomized achievement. Born in Tampico, Illinois, Reagan first rose to prominence as the leading man in several Hollywood films. It was during this time that he became president of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). In 1966, he was elected governor of California, defeating Pat Brown. In November 1980, he soundly defeated Democrat Jimmy Carter and Independent John B. Anderson in the general election, garnering 489 electoral votes. The "Reagan Revolution" had begun. On January 20, 1981, he was sworn in as the fortieth President of the United States, serving two terms. He died on June 5, 2004.
