DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1964 (ELH) IT IS A METAL AND GLASS ENCLOSED CAB SUPPORTED BY A FOUR-LEGGED STEEL STRUCTURE. THE OVER-ALL HEIGHT IS APPROXIMATELY 85 FEET. THE STATION IS LOCATED ON BAYS MOUNTAIN ABOUT 3.5 MILES SOUTHWEST OF KINGSPORT. A TRAVERSE CONNECTION WAS MADE FROM TRAVERSE STATION ET-12 (THD) 1963. THE POINT OBSERVED WAS THE APEX OF THE ROOF, AND THE TRAVERSE WAS MADE TO THE INTERSECTION POINT OF THE FOUR LEGS AT A POINT ABOUT 2-FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL.

The firetower is still in place with new wooden steps. You can climb it - posted at your own risk.
