The Rookery boasts one of the largest blue heron rookeries in northeast Ohio. The park has two trails. Woodcock Trail is a handicap accessible trail that includes a pleasant, stream-side platform for wildlife viewing. The longer trail is an out/back trail that follows an old inter-urban line. From From 1899 until 1925, the Cleveland & Eastern Traction Company operated an electric-powered Interurban Railroad. One of the railways right-of-ways is now the park's trail. The trail is used for walking and cross-country skiing. It passes elevated through a large wetlands. In spring the wetlands is filled with an extremely large number of spring peepers. The walk through the wetlands and along the woods beyond will yield sights of many birds, native wildflowers, and mammals.
