The Vern Riffe Center for the Arts is located on the campus of Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio. It features an acoustically superior 1,139-seat auditorium, named for the late Vernal Riffe, Jr., Ohio's long-time speaker of the house.

The Vern Riffe Center for the Arts, located on the campus of Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio, was named in honor of Vernal Riffe Jr., long-time speaker of the house from Ohio, and sponsor of the bill that established Shawnee State University in 1986. There are literally dozens of sites named for this much beloved lawmaker in this region of Ohio and beyond.

It is a resource not only for the University but the community of Portsmouth and the southern Ohio/northern Kentucky region.
