Born in Kettering on 15th of December 1844 Alfred East became a successful painter and etcher. He trained in Glasgow and Paris favouring the English landscape. As well as painting he produced a book on instruction in how to paint landscapes.
Alfred had exhibits in the Royal Academy in 1883 and became an associate. His paintings are housed throughout the world. He died in 1913.
This bust is located in Sheep Street and is tucked away in an alcove by the wall surrounding the art gallery and library.
