Dr Elder was born July 14, 1886 near Farmington. He attended Goshen School and later the Georgia Electric College of Medicine in Atlanta.
He was a mason and member of Yaarab Temple of Mystic Shrine in Atlanta.
He also served the town of Bogart and Oconee County as Mayor, Councilman, Member of the Board of Education and a great supporter of youth athletics, especially in baseball.
