In 1942, the Canadian Federal Government took control of the property and used it as a training facility (and residence) for the Women's Royal Naval Service (WRENS). It became known as HMCS Bytown II
At the end of the war, the property was requisitioned as a specialized military hospital specializing in the treatment of personnel suffering from nervous disorders and was known as 'Scarborough Hall'.
The property was returned to the previous owners in 1947, and they re-established the Guild of All Arts. The hotel was abandoned in 2001 and is now part of Guildwood Park.
