The Usulines sundial on the "Couvent des Ursulines" 734 rue des Ursulines, Trois Rivieres Quebec, declines about 58º west of south so it shows afternoon hours best. The dial about 8 ft in height and 6 ft wide was painted on wood by Msgr Charles-Oliver Caron in 1860.
An analemmatic noon mark corrects for the Equation of Time. It has been restored in 1934 and repainted in 1980.
This sundial shows the French tradition and is similar in style to the dail at the Soubonne in Paris and many of the dials by G.F. Zarbula near Briançon.
Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
