The Province House is located on Hollis Street in the historic downtown district of Halifax. Opened in 1819, the building is Canada's oldest governmental capitol building.
With construction starting in 1811, this building is source historical pride. The building is architected in the British Palladian tradition. The remodeling and restoration project started in 1985 was completed and celebrated by Queen Elizabeth II in 1994.
The nearby square features a statue memorializing the Boer War. Just a block North is the Grand Parade, site of the Halifax Cenotaph war memorial.
