This lodge houses Hiram T. Dewey Lodge #226 F&AM Chartered in 1921 and the Order of the Easter Star also instituted in 1921. Although I have never sat in this lodge, they really seem to have their act together and appear to play an active and vibrant role in the community. I found several announcements in PDF form on the web which acknowledge the lodge's involvement in many various programs and events. There was a banner out front, hanging off the portico announcing a roast pork dinner. Surfing the web also revealed other announcements for other upcoming events (some family oriented), an important mainstay for any Masonic organization and vital in keeping the interest of the brethren.

Charity
We, as Freemasons are big on charity and charitable organizations. To this end we support the Children Learning Centers which have been actively engaged in helping children overcome the obstacles of dyslexia. Thousands of dyslexic children have received free one-on-one multisensory reading and written language tutoring, and hundreds of school teachers and other individuals interested in becoming certified tutors have received training at no cost. Additionally, the Children's Learning Centers continue to support clinical research programs that focus on dyslexia.
Hiram T. Dewey Lodge #226 F&AM holds two Sporting Clays Shoots per year for the benefit of the Children’s Learning Centers. These shoots are held at Red Wing Sporting Clays, in Port Republic, NJ. Each entrant pays $100 to participate. They provide lunch, prizes and trophies to the top shooters in various classes, High Overall, High Senior, High Ladies, and High Juniors.
As a teacher it makes me proud, just like our lodge, this lodge recognizes education and give out a teacher of the year award.
