It Tolls for William L. Karrer - Egg Harbor City, NJ

This bell is in an odd spot. It sits in front of the local H2O tower along Cincinnati Ave. To the left of this memorial is Egg Harbor City Senior Citizen Nutrician Center, which with its bell tower, looks suspiciously like a former school.

Information on this bell is scarce. The "belfry" in the erstwhile schoolhouse seems devoid of a bell and I would not be surprised that when the school became defunct in the sixties, the bell was removed from the tower and placed here to serve as a memorial and reminder of the good deeds of the namesake. It seems Mr. Karrer was involved in education for Egg Harbor City for about 38 years as indicated on the inscription of the Bell which reads:
In Memory of
William L. Karrer
"Champion of Education"
Served Egg Harbor City
Board of Education
1925 to 1963
I managed to find a link to the local board of education
