West Toledo Masonic Complex was originally formed on June 1, 1871 in a room above a wagon shop on Phillips Avenue in Toledo, Ohio. The Grand Master of Masons in Ohio at that time was Alexander H. Newcomb, who was present at that meeting. The Dispensation was read, and a Lodge was organized under Dispensation. The meeting was then adjourned and a regular lodge of Master Masons was opened with the Grand Master of Masons in Ohio, Most Worshipful Alexander H. Newcomb as Master, Worshipful Brother John G. Norton as Senior Warden and Brother R. E. Richards as Junior Warden.
