This light was built in 1836 on a pier stretching out into Lake Ontario. The wood lighthouse was replaced with a steel tower in 1938 and is 45 feet tall, having a focal plane of 51 feet. This lighed is automated, flashing every 10 seconds, and can be seen 17 miles away.
