"Daniel Nason" Boston & Providence - 1858
4-4-0 American type locomotive designed by Master Mechanic George S. Griggs and built at the Boston & Providence Railroad shops. The "Daniel Nason" is the only surviving example of "Dutch Wagon" practice where the steam cylinders are inside the locomotive frame, a design popular prior to the Civil War. It is a wood burning locomotive with 16" x 20" cylinders and 54" drive wheels. Donated in 1982 by the "Friends of the Danbury" Collection.
