This piece is unlabelled and unattributed. I searched for it on the internet, but yielded no results. The installation appears to date back to the late 60's, since this was when this part of downtown was redone to accommodate the new flow of traffic to the nearby Mellon (nee Civic) Arena and the 64 story US Steel Tower.
To me, the patterns are abstract, yet suggestive of both the triangular/quadrangular nature of the downtown area and the flow of people through it.
The coordinates are to the middle of the installation, access is from paths leading off of Chatham Square, both sides. It appears to be ADA accessible.
